Types of practical exams
Regular practical exam
– Most people take this exam.
– You can take the practical exam from the age of 17.
– The practical exam lasts 55 minutes.
– The practical exam is possible in all languages.
– You will be judged whether you can drive safely and independently.
– The examiner will look at whether you have enough consideration for other road users.
You will be assessed on:
– Your viewing behaviour.
– Whether you control the car well.
– Giving way properly.
– The proper overtaking of other vehicles.
– Whether you can merge in and out well.
– Driving on intersections and roundabouts.
– Performing special operations correctly.
Intermediate test
– You can do the intermediate test to get used to the exam situation.
– If you want tips from an official examiner for your practical exam.
– You can get an exemption for special operations during your intermediate test. This means that you do not have to do it on your official practical exam.
– You can take the intermediate test from the age of 16.5.
– An intermediate test lasts 55 minutes.

Fear of failure exam
You can take this exam if you suffer from fear of failure.
– You will be assigned an examiner who is specialised in guiding people with fear of failure.
– During this exam, it is possible to request a time-out.
– You can take this exam from the age of 17.
– This exam is possible in all languages.
-This exam will last for 80 minutes, this way you can take your time.
– The costs are higher than the normal practical exam.
– You will be judged whether you can drive safely and independently.
– The examiner will look at whether you have enough consideration for other road users.

Didn't pass the exam for the fourth time?
If you fail to pass your practical exam for the fourth time, you have to take a special exam. This is called a ‘further examination of driving ability’. You will get more time and optimized personal guidance. This also involves additional costs.
